‘Vincenzo’ Episode 10: Review, Recap & Reactions

We are all still collectively in disbelief from how we left things off in the previous episode. Jang Joon-woo continued to cross the line when the Babel victims’ families ended up dead in a van together.

Vincenzo episode 10 reveals what really happened in their planned trip that led to to their death (spoiler alert: it’s not a suicide) as our favorite lawyer duo enacts a plan to lure out Babo. Will they finally learn that Joon-woo has been pulling the strings all this time?

Let’s find out in this week’s review, recap, and real-time reactions. Feel free to leave your thoughts about this episode in the comments below!

Vincenzo Episode 10 Review & Recap
tvN via Netflix

Well folks, we finally got to the moment we’ve all been waiting for since we learned that Joon-woo was the real boss behind Babel. It seems like Vincenzo now knows of his identity too. Key word: seems.

Vincenzo episode 10 was a direct continuation of the previous episode as Team Vincenzo sought answers to who Babo is in an effort to take down the conglomerate. They got sidetracked as a pile of dead bodies were left on their way to finding out the truth. Director Gil, the only person who knew about Babo, was killed. And of course, the families of Babel’s victims had apparently taken their own lives.

In an unsurprising revelation, it was actually Joon-woo who was behind their murder and eventual cover-up. Vincenzo and Cha-young took care of that problem pretty quickly as they tracked down the dirty police officers who were bribed into declaring it was suicide. In a throwback to the fourth episode, they eventually fessed up after being kidnapped by Vincenzo.

At the moment, it felt satisfying to watch them do the whole shtick again to get some sort of justice for the victims. But looking back, I can’t believe they got over their grief pretty quickly. It was a similar situation to Hong Yu-chan’s death where you knew it was a huge L for Team Vincenzo, but they were able just to bounce back right after that.

Thankfully though, their deaths were what triggered certain events that led to the intense closing moments of the episode. So it was not all in vain!

The police did end up running a legitimate investigation into the families’ cause of death. From some video footage, Vincenzo was able to piece together that they were tazed and killed inside a tunnel by Babel. He would use this piece of information later to lure out Babo.

It was the final step to his master plan in Vincenzo episode 10 which also involved getting in the minds of Joon-woo’s underlings. Yes, all three of them — Ms. Choi, Jang Han-seo, and Han Seung-hyeok — were placed in some high pressure situations by our protagonists. With the help of the Geumga Plaza tenants, Cha-young and Vincenzo planned to take some shots against Babel and Wusang.

Their first order of business was streaming a talk show that threatened to expose the companies. More than that, they were able to get under the skin of Joon-woo’s Devils (get it, like Charlie’s Angels?) by making jokes about them. Cha-young even dared to mock Ms. Choi’s dance moves. The audacity!

While it did succeed in pissing them off, Joon-woo knew what they were up to and didn’t think much of it.

The talk show was more Cha-young’s thing, so Vincenzo decided to take things to another level that was more his style. He made some loaded threats against all three of Joon-woo’s Devils and signing them off with a “C” in fake blood. Ms. Choi felt some major deja vu when she was once again frightened to near-death in the laundromat. This time though, it was by the Special Effects Guy pretending to be a zombie.

Han-seo’s scaredy-catness continues to be exposed when a toy truck with a timer (controlled by Chef Toto) chased him into the wall. When it reached zero, confetti came out of the truck along, as well as a small white flag signed with a “C”.

I especially loved how Han-seo’s threat went in. His greatness weakness has always been his cowardice, so it was nice seeing Vincenzo exploit that. But I also loved the callback to Ms. Choi’s threat and wish that she would change laundromats for her own benefit.

These tricks didn’t do anything to lure out Babo, so Vincenzo decided to take matter into his own hands. He told Cha-young he might just kill someone to get justice on the victims of which she was afraid would actually be true. She wouldn’t let him leave her side until Joon-woo lured her out of Vincenzo’s place… there was a lot of luring going on in this episode.

Vincenzo was actually planning something behind her back: using the talk show livestream, he threatened to expose what really happened to the victims’ families by going to the same tunnel where they had been killed. Joon-woo ordered some thugs to go after him.

In any case, Cha-young met up with him in a cafe since he had promised to give her some information about Wusang. When she got there though, he said he just wanted to eat with her. Suspicious, much?

Mr. Nam, Team Vincenzo’s third wheel, told Cha-young about Vincenzo’s plan and she was frantic. Of course, Vincenzo wasn’t picking up because he was too busy getting into a gun fight with the Babel thugs. She eventually broke down in tears as Joon-woo drove her to the tunnel. When they got there, Cha-young ran desperately to a slightly bloodied Vincenzo, who had been trying to get some information about Babo from one of the thugs; he saw someone named “Chairman” in the thug’s phone.

And then Vincenzo came out with the biggest bombshell of the episode: he knows who Babo is.

I really loved how the whole Babo thing played out. We still don’t know if Vincenzo actually figured out it was Joon-woo, or if the latter was able to make him think that it was someone else. Either way, what a way to end Vincenzo episode 10! This major development came at an appropriate time considering we’re at the halfway point already.

Is it the right time though? I thought our leads were going to find out Babo’s identity next week just because it felt right to do it then. There are still many episodes to go, so I hope the show hasn’t played all their cards yet. But to give them credit, they’ve been doing a great job making sure that important things every episode.

But what I am shocked by — if Vincenzo did figure out it correctly — is how he boldly revealed it in front of Joon-woo himself. It was an interesting choice that I did not expect. Wouldn’t the next logical step be to kidnap Joon-woo there and then? Isn’t that like an easy way to get rid of the problem?

tvN via Netflix

And can we talk about Cha-young and Vincenzo for a second in that scene? How cute was that hug in the tunnel during snowfall? Cha-young was freaking worried AF about him when he wasn’t picking up his phone!

There was also a sweet moment between them earlier when she once again asked Vincenzo if he was going to leave after they take down Babel. What was pretty interesting this time was he didn’t answer her. He’s thinking about it! Which is a good sign. I want her to ask him that question from time to time until he says “no”.

But trouble will be in paradise soon because Joon-woo was able to dig up Vincenzo’s past in Italy. You know, the one that involved him killing a lot of people?

I think that Cha-young will learn about this fact soon, and she will be devastated. What does she expect dating someone from the mafia though?

tvN via Netflix

Joon-woo was actually ecstatic that he was going against someone who was just as ruthless and violent as him. Someone who was not as ecstatic him though, was Jang Han-seo. Learning about Vincenzo being a consigliere frightened him.

In fact, Han-seo has been pretty scared and paranoid lately with all the hockey puck murders and whatnot. In a familiar situation is Seung-hyeok. They actually sat down together to process their trauma from the previous night… and maybe try and plan a coup against Joon-woo? At least that’s what Seung-hyeok is trying to do by planting seeds in Han-seo’s brain that he could be a better boss than his brother. Meanwhile, Joon-woo seems to have taken a liking to Ms. Choi’s devilish spirit, and she is just going to make good with him so she doesn’t end up dead.

There seems to be a growing rift within Team Babel-Wusang which was explored further in Vincenzo episode 10. There are a lot of possibilities with this new storyline, which I am excited for. I believe that Seung-hyeok will continue to manipulate Han-seo to make a move against Jang Joon-woo for the throne. If one of them doesn’t end up dead due to a failed coup attempt, I’ll eat my hat. I mean… the both of them seem to be disposable characters, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens.

tvN via Netflix

Overall, Vincenzo episode 10 was packed with a lot of punches, literally and figuratively. As you can tell by the length of this review and recap, there were a lot of things tha went down. It felt like the fourth episode again with all the callbacks (e.g. kidnapping & Ms. Choi in the laundromat), the post-death revenge from Team Vincenzo, and a killer ending.

With Vincenzo discovering Babo’s real identity, and Joon-woo learning Vincenzo’s past, the game has been reset. Next week, it looks like we’re going to go back to the Geumga Plaza drama. The building tenants are adamant on staying there, and Park Seok-do from Babel E&C seems to be on the tenants’ side now. Time is ticking for Vincenzo because that demolition is coming soon.
